However, a revolutionary new treatment called TNFerade has
been developed by the biotech firm, GenVec, Inc.
See a
report from Denver's CBS-4 - HERE and another report from
West Virginia's ABC-8 - HERE.
Here's how you can help:  Send an email to each of the
following four executives from GenVec, Inc. In the email ask
them this, "please make the life-saving treatment, TNFerade,
available to pancreatic cancer patients via a compassionate
use program."
Help Cure Connie Loughman and Patrick Swayze
The problem:  GenVec, Inc. has refused to set up a
compassionate use/expanded access program that would
allow people with pancreatic cancer to obtain access to this
life-saving treatment, even if they are willing to pay the costs
for the treatment themselves
.
Connie Loughman, an Indianapolis wife and mother of three,
and actor Patrick Swayze, are among the approximately
33,000 people who were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
in the last year.
Please note that Patrick Swayze does not support, promote, recommend or endorse
any particular treatment whose efficacy and side effects are unknown to him.  Thus, we
wish to make clear that our inclusion of Mr. Swayze's image and likeness is meant to
raise public awareness of pancreatic cancer and the efforts that hopefully will enable
progress toward improved detection techniques and improved treatment.
